New Travel Medicine Clinic

New this July — Stay healthy while you travel!

The brand new Travel Medicine Clinic at the David Braley Health Sciences Centre offers travelers consults so they can get health advice and receive vaccinations before their adventures abroad.

Ashleigh McCullagh-Cheung, MB BCh BAO, CCFP, is both up-to-date and passionate about travel health. She holds an MSc in Global Health and Development (University College London, UK, 2014) and she obtained her Certificate in Travel Health (International Society of Travel Medicine, 2019).

The Clinic is located at the McMaster Downtown Ambulatory Care Centre, on the 4th floor at the David Braley Health Sciences Centre, 100 Main Street West, Hamilton. Dr. McCullagh-Cheung recommends that you are seen 4-6 weeks before your travel. Appointments will be offered in person on Tuesdays and Fridays from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm. Consults will take approximately 40 minutes. In the near future, Dr. McCullagh-Cheung plans to expand clinic offerings to include online appointments with weekend and evening availability.

After booking your appointment, you will be emailed a pre-travel questionnaire. There will be questions about your health, travel plans and vaccination history. This should be completed online and submitted 48 hours prior to your appointment.

OHIP does not fund travel medicine, but some health insurance benefit plans will reimburse some or all of the cost. The consult fee is $85 per person, with a group discount if multiple people are on the same trip. There is a $25 vaccine administration fee which includes a vaccine record. For vaccine prices, please refer to the Vaccine Price List.

The clinic accepts Debit, Visa, MasterCard and American Express. Receipts for services will be provided so you can submit claims to health insurance benefit plans.

Please call the clinic at 905-525-9140 ext. 24881 or email the clinic at appointments@mdacc.ca to book your appointment today.
